Twenty European regions are joining forces to make the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) a local reality through the new 2030CATALYSTS initiative. Coordinated by the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre, the project brings together regions from 12 countries to share knowledge, develop data-driven policies, and accelerate the transition from planning to action.
The initiative emphasizes “place-based strategies” — policies adapted to each region’s unique environmental, economic, and social context. By strengthening local data systems and fostering collaboration between public authorities, NGOs, and academia, the project aims to bridge the gap between global goals and regional realities.
For our NGO, this development is highly relevant. It reinforces our mission to promote inclusive and sustainable regional growth, and it opens doors for collaboration with similar organizations across Europe. We share the vision that achieving the SDGs requires local ownership and practical solutions rooted in communities themselves.
As the 2030CATALYSTS project moves forward, we will continue to explore opportunities to align our regional initiatives with this broader European effort — ensuring that our region remains part of Europe’s sustainable future.
