Members of the seven partner organizations participating in the project are going to meet at 7th-9th November in Athens, Greece, to attend The Final Conference. The conference is hosted and organized by European Institution for Local Development. Athletes, coaches, vocational education providers and representatives of the partners, participated in the project, will travel to Greece in order to attend the international meeting.

The purpose of the meeting is to draw conclusions about the project implementation. During the meeting participants will exchange their knowledge and experiences, earned by the project. Furthermore the curriculum followed by participating athletes/ students will be presented and all parties will make an effort to evaluate the results of the project. The conference will also host guest speakers, who will provide us with further information about athletes Dual Career.

DECA project was in continuously communication with professional athletes and gave opportunities to a multitude of highly talented athletes, to compete in a top league while at the same time providing them with vocational education. During this time, athletes stayed in the state of Bremen for three years and integrated into German Premiere Basketball League, the “Bundesliga”, while at the same time they given vocational education, preferably in the field of health prevention, to prepare them for employment after their athletic career.

"Dual European Athlete Career - Professional Basketball and Vocational Training (DECA)" was co-funded by the European Commission within the framework of the European Program Erasmus Sport and was implemented from 2015, with the participation of the following institutions: European Institute for Local Development (Greece), Ministry of the Interior and of Sport, Bremen (Germany), ), MSV Basket / ASD Margherita Sport e Vita (Italy), Basketball School KEIZARS RIGA (Latvia), Club Basket Granollers (Spain), Fundacion Universitaria San Antonio (Spain), Eisbaren Bremerhaven (Germany).

Genista Research Foundation

Genista Foundation had been set up in 2002 , with the aim of coordinating a pioneering project on sustainable farming and Biodiversity to demonstrate practical systems in various sectors of farming and other sustainable practices where one is expected to take greater care of our environment and the health of the consumer. The project has also served as an opportunity for further initiatives and practical research in the field of sustainable farming and other related ecological issues by providing technical assistance, courses, educational material and other informational activities.

The Foundation is managed by a board of directors and has a number of volunteers and hires experts on specific subjects according to the projects being worked on. The Genista nature reserve hosts interns and EVS volonteers following the approval of an EU youth in action project in 2012 with an accreditation No: MT-21-10-2012-R2 / 01.
